has anyone ever heard of James Cook University? They Offer a masters in astronomy and astrophysics online and I was wondering if the course itself is any good and if the school itself is legit, and if the degree is worth anything in Canada being as the university is in Australia? thanks so much.

There’s a James Cook University located in Queensland, Australia that is recognized by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations. You can always contact them to confirm it. Qu

thanks so much that was a lot of help, thank you.

James Cook Uni (JCU) is definitely a real, legit school. I used to live in Cairns in Queensland where the main campus is. I was a distance student at a different uni but used to do my exams there and also go and use the library. I don’t know anyone personally who has done the graduate astronomy programs, but they do have a good reputation in this part of the world. The other Australian school that does graduate astronomy by distance is Swinburne University (which is also a real, legit school), who do a Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, and a Masters degree in astronomy. Swinburne’s programs are pretty popular, and the website includes a section on what their graduates are doing now so you can see if that’s the sort of thing you might be aiming for. Here’s a link if you would like to take a look:

Hope this info is useful.
