I have a BS in IT with 8 years work experience, want to move into engineering fields like Systems Engineering, designing business systems for industrial, supply chain, financial, or other kinds of systems.

My work experience itself won't ever lead to these career opportunities.

Any experiences with this situation? Thanks!

Very possible. Systems engineering is the one graduate engineering area that admits students from various backgrounds. I don’t know about getting into a Top-10 or Top-5 school, but you can get into some decent schools. Besides, it would be a M.S/M.Eng degree, so school name would mean less for experienced engineers. I would look at:

Iowa State
Penn State (actually Penn State Great Valley)
New Mexico State Univ (M.S.I.E but has grad cert in Systems Engineering)
Univ of Wisconsin at Platteville
University of Maryland (GRE’s not required)

to name a few.
