Hi, I am writing this for my brother. If you want to go into the sports industry is it better to go to law school or get a Masters in Business/Sports Administration?

My goal is to go into the sports industry and I am doing an MBA. Some schools, like the Warsaw Center at the U. of Oregon have sports-specific MBAs, but I chose to attend UCLA because it's a better school and I will still have plenty of internship and job opportunities in the L.A. area. Positions in the sports industry aren't plentiful, so I am doing the regular MBA at a higher-ranked school so I can easily switch fields if sports doesn't work out.

I interviewed a candidate who had worked for an NHL team. He told me that a week never went by when his boss didn't drop in with a stack of resumes he had received from people who wanted to work for him as unpaid interns, or for little pay.

Working in the sports industry may seem glamorous at first, but the glamour wears off. There's something to be said for chosing a more mundane industry. There's less competition for jobs that may prove more rewarding (financially and intellectually) in the long run.

working in sports is like every little boy's dream once he realizes he's not going to the nba. the competition therefore is probably many times more than a less glamourous field. At least if he goes for the mba he has access to both fields instead of being confined to a very hard to break into field
