Hi everyone,
I would greatly appreciate any help on this topic:
So, I just finished my third year of college at UC Santa Barbara and I really, really, really want to go to U Penn for graduate school. I am a Global Studies and Sociology double major. Currently, I have a 3.2 GPA and I’m studying abroad in the fall for a human rights and cultural memory program in Argentina and Chile. I was a delegate in Model Arab League for two years (a Middle East version of Model UN), I’m the founder of a hunan rights club at UCSB (I discovered that I didn’t actually like the way the org was working nationally, so I decided to hand it off to a friend), and besides that I’ve done minimal community service work with my local church. (I won’t include that on my application, since I don’t really even count it as community service). I managed to take 11 classes this year and got an A/A- in 8 of them. This was an improvement from the years before, in which case I mostly got Bs. I know I can get my GPA up to a 3.5 before I graduate but, unfortunately, I think that’s the highest it’s going to get.
What are my chances of me getting into the MSW program?
Should I take the GRE even though it’s not required?
Should I even apply with such a low GPA?
and very little connections to my professors?
How was the interview?
Can anyone who is currently in the program identify with my situation?
U Penn is my dream and I consult think about how amazing it would be to attend graduate school there.
If there’s any advice that anyone has, I’d really appreciate it.
Thank you!
