Master's program in Engineering and Business or Dual Master's program?

Hey Guys!

So I am looking for a masters program that is a good mix of an Engineering discipline and business. Ideally, I would love to be able to get into a dual master's degree - one in Engg and one in a business related field.

Do you guys have any ideas/suggestions for such programs?

PS - I am a Chem Engg major at the U of I with a GPA of around 3.7. I am minoring in Business as well. I have internship/coop experience in a ChemE position at a Fortune 100 company as well as experience in an academic lab.

Thanks!

There is something called a Master of Engineering Management ([Home | Master of Engineering Management Programs Consortium (MEMPC)](http://www.mempc.org/)), which is like a hybrid MS/MBA. Usually, most of those programs want some work experience (around three years) prior to matriculation. Real drawback is that employers aren’t entirely familiar with the degree and it’s not much value added without work experience.

You could also get an MBA and go to a program that has a good technical focus (like MIT Sloan). Sloan ([MIT MBA + Engineering MS | MIT Leaders for Global Operations ? MIT LGO](MIT dual-degree from two top programs)) also has a program called Leaders in Global Operations that allows you get a masters in engineering and an MBA in 2.5 years. I’m sure there are other programs.

For graduate work in business, you’re going to need some work experience first. You’ll get a way stronger idea of what you do and don’t want to do professionally (and therefore be better able to focus your applications). Engineering masters, it will matter a lot less. Good luck!
