masters

what would help you more in law school admissions...a 4 year bachelors/masters political science program or a normal 4 year double major in economics and political science?

i know that all of you are probably going to say just major in what you want..but i was wondering if the masters would help significantly or not at all?

it's probably not going to make a huge difference--do whichever you choose; neither will give you a real boost. If you really don't have a preference, you might as well do the one that you think will give you a higher gpa.

One caveat to stacy's posts (which is generally correct) is that it matters how your school handles awarding joint degrees. Some schools award degrees coterminally, meaning that all of your coursework for the masters is completed before you receive your bachelors. In this situation, your UGPA will include all courses you take. If, however, your school structures the joint degree program by awarding the bachelors first and then having you complete work toward the masters, the coursework for your masters will not count toward your UGPA. So, to some degree, if you fall into the second category, your decision may affect your hard factors (though the direction of this effect will depend on whether you believe you will do better in your MA work than you did in your BA work).
