Congratulations on your achievements.

To confirm: this means you can afford at least $80,000 per year for four years, and can show proof of these finances. Yes?

Admissions to US colleges is very competitive for international students. In the event you don’t get accepted, do you have a backup school in China that you would be happy to go to?

Most of your list will cost close to 80k a year. UIUC, UNC and Ohio State are less, but still close to 50k. Merit scholarships are very hard to get for international students.

Good luck to you.

Adding to the choir…those UCs will cost nearly $75,000 a year. Some of the other schools on your list are that cost as well.

Please clarify with your family that this is affordable. To get a visa to study here, you will need to complete a certificate of finances that documents that you have the money to fund your college costs here…all of them. Some colleges ask for documentation for all four years of the costs. Some less than that. This documentation can include money in the bank, approved loans, approved financial aid from the college. It cannot include future earnings, possible loans, possible sale of properties, possible funding by other family members.

So check to make sure you will have the money at the ready…because you will need to show you do.

And add the costs of health insurance and transportation from China. These usually are not included in the cost of attendance.

…but regardless of what a college asks for before issuing an I-20, the US State Dept will ask for proof of finances for the entire period (four years) before issuing the visa.

Then this needs to be something this student needs to check. That’s over $300,000 at some places.

Only 2 UC’s offer a Nursing program. The admit rate for UCI Nursing was 1.3% and for UCLA 1%.

For Biology, Data Science and Economics here are the most current admit rates published. Please note that the UC’s have capped OOS and International student enrollment at all campuses.

If you are thinking Pre-Med just know as an International student your chances to study in a US Medical school are close to zero. The few International students that are admitted mainly come from Canada.
