If Kalamazoo is appealing, it could be worth looking into whether you could participate in the jazz program at Western Michigan via cross-registration: Jazz Studies | Western Michigan University (I know cross-registration exists, and the schools are only 1.5 miles apart, but I don’t know whether programs that require auditions are accessible to non-WMU students. I’m sure you could inquire and find out, if you decided to consider K-College.)
