Match me to a college!

SAT:
Math-500
Reading-570
Writing-710

GPA:
3.7 UW

Very little EC/community service.

Location:
NY

Preferred college location:
In or near a big city in the Northeastern US

Probable major:
Political science

Cost:
$25,000 or less combined tuition and room/board, if more, the school must be known for giving out big financial aid packages.

The two that I am strongly considering right now are SUNY Albany and Howard U, but I'm lost after that and I know I need more options for safety. Are those two reaches?

Thanks!!!

Judging by the fact that you're interested in Howard, I'm assuming that you're African-American? (correct me if I'm wrong). Being an underrepresented minority will help significantly in the admissions process, but the low math/reading scores and lack of EC's will hurt.

I don't think any of the SUNY's would be reaches for you except Geneseo and Binghamton - I'd focus your search on SUNY colleges. You're a match for most of the better ones. :-)

SUNY Buffalo
SUNY Stonybrook
SUNY Oswego, Fredonia

Actually I am white, haha. I am aware that Howard is a HBCU, but that doesn't bother me.

if you got your SAT up geneseo is a good match

^ Oh, alright. :p I applaud you for being so open to new opportunities, then!

But you could also look at Fordham in NYC or Boston University. You're probably in at most any SUNY, too, if they interest you.

Fordham and Boston are too expensive.

Maybe University of Maryland - College Park, if you could get some aid?

Ah, right, good point. You never really know what kind of aid you'll get anywhere, unfortunately. ):

Everything just seems to be too much...

I agree with the SUNY suggestions...cost is very reasonable, and I think you would be good fit.
