Job: have held pt job for 18 months ( ft in summers) same job

Passion: Art school (2yrs)

Type of school I am interested in: 1) Urban
2) Artsy and intellectual but not too unconventional, middle of the road
3)school would allow flexibility in choosing a major not sure yet, probally English supplemented by my photography and artistic interests.
4) Considering NYC area as first choice(NYU, Barnard as reach schools? Fordham perhaps more attainable?(safety?)

5) Boston area ( Boston College as reach? anyone ever hear of Lesley University in Boston? It links with Boston Institute of Art and looks like a possible "safety".

                                      6) other urban colleges on eastcoast?

How do you really find your match? All the schools I seem to be interested in seem to be "reach" in requirements and competetiveness. I need more safeties.

Anyone suggest something that would "fit" me?

I saw Vassar and Bard.........loved them both.

Loved Bard for the academic thinking and programs and array of classes and art, photography, writing etc.
However the woods is not for me.

Vassar was wonderful too, but seems too out of reach for me...moneywise .and also in the country.

I would like a Bard type college for the academic philosophy and value in the arts but less unconventional . Also in an URBAN setting. I know this spells NYU but I don't think I can get into NYU plus I'd prefer smaller campus feel.

Your probally thinking Columbia ( we learned at Bard that Bard and Columbia were once affiliated but split when Bard wanted to go co-ed and Columbia did'nt. They were an all men's writing schoool on the Hudson River)

I did sense a strain of similarity in academic thinking and course offerings and philosophies between the two.

Hence the consideration for Barnard....which interacts with Columbia across the street. But not sure how I feel about a women's college.

Well for all you college experts out there...........I would love for you to match me up!

I need reach, middle and safeties!

It's in Brooklyn, not Boston, but you may want to look into the Pratt Institute. It's an arts school--I don't know what you plan to major in, but if it's something in the arts, I think it might be good. However, I haven't looked into SAT GPA ranges and the like.
