Its horrible to think that people can regard to some schools as safety schools since the college application process is so strenuous but I wanted to know if you can match me with some schools were my acceptance would be probable.
Im hopefully going to major in Economics and History and I strive to go to law school following undergraduate.

What is your financial situation? What state do you live in? What schools are already on your list?

Cost constraints?

If you have limited money, go to the financial aid and scholarships forum and look for the automatic full tuition and full ride scholarships thread for lists of potential safeties.

Also, have you checked whether your in-state public universities have assured admission and/or good need-based aid and/or merit scholarships for you?

Remember, deadlines for scholarships may be coming soon.

A safety has to be affordable. How much will your family pay each year?

Alabama would give you free tuition, but you’d need to apply by Dec 15…the app is quick and easy…no essays…no LORs.

What is your major?

Based on your profile, the following would likely be safeties in/near cities:
if you’re a girl, Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, St Kate’s in Minneapolis-St Paul, Mills in San Francisco, Simmons in Boston, Chatham in Pittsburgh.
in other cases: Goucher (Baltimore), Ithaca, Clark, Birmingham Southern, Flagler, Florida Southern, Trinity (San Antonio), Rhodes (Memphis), Guilford (Greensboro). Those would all be safeties where you’d get a very nice financial aid package.

Muhlenberg considers “level of applicant’s interest”, probably a signal that it does not want to be anyone’s last choice safety.

Consideration of “level of applicant’s interest” is becoming increasingly common; check each school’s common data set (section C7) or admissions tab at http://www.collegedata.com .

I am male and I do intend on applying for financial aid but I do not consider myself financially constrained. I live in New York. Thank you for all the feedback

Well, it’s nice you don’t consider yourself to be financially constrained, but how do your parents feel about that?
Have you asked how much they would be willing to pay. One reason this is coming up is affordability is part of being a safety. You can always look at the stickies in the financial aid forum for places that will offer you good scholarships.

Most of the SUNY schools would serve as both admissions and financial safeties. If your ultimate interest is law you might want to consider the 3 + 3 programs at UAlbany or Union College in Schenectady.
