Match me with some schools please!

I have a small list of indefinite schools I may apply to. I'm a senior so I should probably work on a most concrete list and get going with this whole application thing... Reaches, matches, whatever.

Location: Washington state

GPA: 3.8

SAT: 1760 (560CR, 590M, 610W... retaking next month. I didn't study the first time so I should do better the next time. Also possibly taking the ACT.)

APs: Stats (4), Literature (current). Note, my school only has like 6 AP classes.

ECs/Achievements:
-Have played guitar for 4-5 years, had lessons for 2 years.
-Self learning piano as of recent
-Violin for ~4 years with lessons
-Saxophone for 3 years
-I write and do interviews and photography for an online music magazine
-I have my own little free-lance photography business
-Manager of the cheerleading team
-Student government for 3 years, 2 years on executive council as historian/publicity manager
-Photo club member for 3 years, executive for 2 years
-GSA for a year
-National Honor Society for 2 years
-Helped start the environmental club at my school
-Disqus award winner 2009-2010
-Organized a march to get the levy passed for my school so our district didn't have to get dissolved (it was the first to pass in years, we got on the news, and I got two certificates for it from the district)
-I volunteer for the Red Cross, Music Saves Lives, Keep A Breast, and the Dear Jack Foundation, and volunteer to help advertise bands by doing missions for them. I also volunteer in my school's ASB office

I'll only consider colleges in Washington, Oregon, California, Massachusetts, New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. I want to be near or in a city, but somewhere safe. I've never been to the east coast before so the thought of going so far is a little scary but yeah.... adventures can be good! There are just so many colleges around there and so many more opportunities. All we have on the west coast is California.

I need somewhere with good financial aid. My dad only makes like $50,000 a year and there are 3 of us living here right now but my dad's girlfriend and her daughter are moving in. My parents are legally separated, so my mom doesn't live here nor does she have a job or anything. No money has been saved for me to go to college (just awesome right?)

I was considering just going to Eastern Washington Uni or UW if I could get in for two years and then transferring somewhere better or with majors that I'm interested in, but I worry that I wouldn't be able to afford those last two years where ever I go, knowing the bad aid for transfer students that I've heard about.

No religious schools, I'm pretty strongly atheist. No women's only schools either.

I want to major in something like marketing communications, entertainment marketing, music industry/music management/performing arts management (not a music major though), arts management, hospitality/tourism/recreation/facilities management (event planning)....

Then, I'd like to minor/certificate in photography/business/event planning.

It obviously depends on the college but yeah. It's hard to explain. Basically, I'd love to work in the music industry, do photography, plan events, be a fashion buyer and stuff like that. Marketing is the only thing I can think of that really covers anything I'd want to do (but I'd love to avoid calculus if I could... haha). Like, Emerson has the ideal major (Marketing communications with a concentration in entertainment management). Unfortunately, Emerson is really expensive, apparently has crappy aid, and does have the school spirit that I love.

Basically (I know this is basically impossible) I'd love to go to a school with really good spirit, but not a party school. Yeah....

Help…? Please!

Thanks for replying! I feel like I probably couldn’t get into L&C, but they don’t really have any majors I’m interested in anyway. I considered Evergreen, but Olympia isn’t exactly where I enjoy being. It’s not really near a major city or anything. Not to mention the college has a huge drug problem as far as I know.

More suggestions?

Pleaseeeee?

You need to look at your in-state public schools. Have you looked at their common data sets to see how you stack up, or talked to your GC about his/her recommendations?

Washington has hardly any schools. I was looking at Uni of Washington but I don’t think I can get in, and their majors aren’t what I’m really looking for but I could probably deal because of their Husky Promise program and cheapness. The rest of the in states just aren’t that great of schools besides Western Washington but I’m not interested in that school. The rest aren’t good and/or are in the middle of no where. I need good internships, I want to be near a city. I was looking at Eastern Washington Uni despite the party scene but it’s not a good school either really. I’ve looked at in states and WUE schools as much as possible. I just need some more suggestions.

Help meee!

Have you checked out the WICHE schools? [WICHE | Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education](http://www.wiche.edu/)

Why don’t you like Western Washington? I know a grad and he loved it. He’s in med school now.

@M’s Mom: I have, thanks! Out of the WICHE schools, I was considering CSUMB, UNLV, Portland State, or University of Oregon. The thing is, I just don’t know if any of them are right for me. CSU-MB I’ve heard just isn’t that great of a school (their grad rate is only like 14%). I don’t know a lot about UNLV. I’ve never been to Vegas before, which is a little scary, though my sister lives there, and I know UNLV is really good with some of the areas I’m interested in. I live like half an hour from Portland State, so I’ll visit it, but they have a ton of commuter students which takes away from the college experience I think, and they have a lot of non-traditional students as well. Then UO is far away from Portland or really anything, so I don’t know… My scores are above or near the 75th percentile at basically all of those schools so I just don’t know…

@Erin’s Dad: Western is a wonderful school, don’t get me wrong. Everyone I know who goes there loves it. There’s just not any majors that catch my eye there, and it’s not close enough to a major city for me.

Anymore help?

Bumping this is getting old haha.

Bump 10 char.
