@SoCal2024: UC Davis is known to have a Friendly, Laid back, Small town feel. Acreage wise, it is the largest UC campus and highly integrated into the town of Davis. It is primarily a bike campus and surrounded by rural farmland and nature. UCD is definitely not a campus for everyone but within 20 minutes of the city of Sacramento.
I always encourage students to visit for themselves to determine their school fit. @lkg4answers also had a student attend UCD, so you are welcome to PM either one of us for more information. I will tell you that although my son (UCD Grad Class of 2017) had a rough Freshman year, he ended up loving his time there and has since moved back to the Sacramento/Davis area for work.
I came across this list of top undergraduate biomedical and bioengineering schools, and UCSD made the list (among others that have been mentioned). I know you already planned to do the UCs, but thought I’d share the list anyway.
I’m not sure on ED1 or ED2… if he really falls in love on a tour. We’re visiting Claremont Makenna, Pitzer, and Harvey Mudd over spring break. I think a UC or CP SLO would be great for my son, but I don’t feel like I can count on them and need back ups.
