Thanks all - I was definitely in panic mode for many reasons on Friday - sorry sylvan.

He won’t be able to interview at USC. We just can’t fly him out there this fall. Hoping his NMSF status will aid a bit there.

He has reached out to most schools and set up off-site interviews where possible.

@Consolation & Sikorsky- He is taking the SAT again because his counselor strongly encouraged it. He was told it is “preferred” for schools that are looking at moving up in the US news rankings. I don’t care if that is true or not. The money isn’t worth the fight to me. I know he won’t study for it, so he really is just giving up a few hours on a Saturday. I was surprised that he wanted to take it again. I also think he is trying to impress his counselor. Doesn’t know the counselor well (he is new) and son wants a good recommendation.

@CountingDown - He really seems to prefer the Pitzer vibe. If aid were the same at both schools, I don’t even know if he’d apply to Pomona. I’ll encourage him to be sure to make it clear to Pitzer that he really wants them.

Thanks to all. I’m going to try and stop fretting when it isn’t needed.

I didn’t think you needed to fly to LA to interview for USC. Here’s what it says on their website:

“You may interview on-campus or off-campus. Off-campus interviews will be conducted on various weekends from October through December in the following cities: Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Honolulu, Houston, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, the San Francisco Bay Area (Emeryville), St. Louis, Seattle, and Washington DC. Off-campus interviews are conducted by members of various USC admission offices.” [Admission Interviews - USC Undergraduate Admission](http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/apply/adm_interview.html)

I guess if you are not near any of those places it’s still a ways…

He looks to be competitive at all of these schools, not sure that anyone can confidently call these schools “matches” these days. I agree with your confidence on his ability to raise his SAT w/ the 80 in PSAT. Best of luck!
