Hello, I am going to be going to college at UNH and I want to get into I-Banking. I know this is not a target school and plan to transfer for sophomore year or junior year.

I have compiled a list of the school I want to apply too and was wondering if you could help me decide in which major would suit me/anyone best ot get into the I-banking field. I have an idea on some of them but if i am wrong would appreciate your input.

So please help me decide which major to choose at each school and how you would rank them for job market, and if any other school should be on their let me know

Nodnard, if I was a pro why would I ask the questions? You ask questions to get feedback or to learn something new. So it is right that I post a question. So if you do not have anything good to say. Just don't say anything at all and to everyone at UCB I appologize for the misspelling of Haas.

...and you'd be amazed what you could learn by just searching the net and reading a couple forums. It's really not that difficult; there's probably at least 5 or 6 threads on i-banking on just the first page of this forum (either Business Majors or Internships) alone.

Thanks but i knew that, my question was specific and I know about I-Banking but my question pertained to which degree in which schools were best. Not what should I major in, not what is i-banking, not how much money do i-bankers make

But clearly how do ivies match up to b-schools and what should one major in that particular school

See your way out of this thread because clearly as much as you try to bring down a post you fail phenomenal at your mission. GOOD BYE

Canadian1989 is utterly clueless, please don't take into consideration anything that the man mumbles on this board, in regards to Investment Banking. Just by rating Stern on par with Wharton and Harvard, yet above Columbia and MIT, canadian1989 proves his incompetency.

The Realness your rankings look alright, but I would swap the 2nd and 3rd tier.

Thank You, and are those the correct majors? I know I would be able to transfer to Harvard. But CAL and UCLA seems promising considering the fact that I would like to live in Socal?

Should I go with an ivy and then apply out west for a job, or should I go out west (which schools) and get recruited from there

Once again thanks for your positive input and not just some ramble that jnpn mumbled.

TheRealness, economics is a more traditional major for this field (some financial accounting courses can come in useful).

As far as Columbia, if you're in the engineering school then OR:FE is a great major, especially if you are eventually looking to make the transition into hedge funds.

I'd reccomend Stanford or CAL for West Coast banking generally, an Ivy would work as well. UCLA and USC are both targets for LA/So.Cal banking-but would have a hard time comming to San Fran to compete with the Stanford/CAL kids.

My suggestion would be to just apply to every school, and weigh your options then.

TheRealness, it depends which school you apply to withing Columbia University. If you apply to Columbia College then economics would be the major to choose. If you apply to the School of Engineering and Applied Science then OR:FE would be a great major.

Also, if you can get a job on wall street and your firm likes you, then getting a transfer out west should not be too difficult. Cross that path if and when you arrive at it.
