If you’re open to looking at schools in SC, I also recommend a look at College of Charleston Honors College . With her stats , she would be quite competitive for their William Aiken Fellows Program. It is a public university with approx 10,000 students with a liberal arts feel. They have a strong international fellows program, strong study abroad programs. Charleston is becoming quite the tech community , and CofC has a great relationship with the tech community including Blackbaud, Boeing, Google , Boomtown and multiple local start ups. Definitely worth a look.
Lehigh and Case Western would be at the top of my list. Strong engineering programs, good students, and the flexibility to change majors without gpa hurdles.
WPI will give her merit money with those stats. I would also suggest Olin, but not sure how strong their humanities programs are. They can cross-register at Wellesley. In any case, Olin gives every student they accept a half ride. As you might expect, admission is super-competitive.
WPI is really worth considering, we visited and were really impressed.
It’s not a fit for everyone, but I’ll second having her at least take a look at Olin. It’s one of the few tippy-top tier schools where, as a full-boat family, you’ll pay less than $40K/year. If she is NMF, you can knock off an additional grand, too. And while lots of schools say “And you can take classes at nearby school X!” kids at Olin really do take classes at Wellesley. My D is about to graduate from there and she’s taking her 4th and 5th Wellesley classes this term. She’s had an amazing four years.
Scripps is (I believe) the only college in the Claremont Consortium to offer merit scholarships. It’s a great college on it’s own and next door is super-techie Mudd. https://www.scrippscollege.edu/finaid/scholarships/merit-based-scholarships
CMU considers RPI a peer institution, so they will try to match any aid received there.
You might consider the Barret Honors college at Arizona State. It is the closest thing to a school within a school that we saw. It would offer her a great smaller environment within a large school that offers everything. They also offer significant merit.
She might also look at Plan II at UT Austin. It is a very competitive program to get into (as well as any of the engineering majors) but it would give her that community within UT as well as an excellent education.
