matches!?

so i need help with find some match schools
my problem in looking for colleges is that I'm really....undecided...

GPA: UW of about 3.8, W 4.2ish
CLASSES: 12 APs including senior year, all others Honors courses, as well as 4 Honors courses in 8th grade that count to high school credit and are shown on my transcript.
SATI: 2190
SATII: History 720, MathII 690, Biology 650
ECs/Awards: Pretty good, show clear passions for history, art, and writing

ME: I guess you could call me more of an "artsy" person. Interests would be history, literature, art, music, and fashion. I love the city, and could never live in the middle of nowhere.

LOCATION:
I would prefer to have a campus. My ideal situation would be a campus within a city, like Columbia or UPenn, but I'm iffy about Columbia's core. I don't mind being on a nice campus closeby to a city, so I'd be able to get there on weekends if I wanted to. I sometimes like the idea a no-campus-urban-college, like NYU, but then sometimes I get scared about not having that unity thats provided by a campus. Basically, the only thing I'm opposed to is being in the middle of nowhere.

SIZE:
I really can't figure out what size would be best for me. I think I would prefer Medium, like 5,000-10,000, but I'm open to larger and smaller colleges. I like the anonymity of a larger university, but only if career guidance/placement and such is still readily available, cause I'm gonna need it as a history/social sciences major. I also like the closeness of a small college, but I don't think I want something as small as my high school (1000ish)

DIVERSITY:
I would like racial diversity, although its not necessary. I'd really like SOME geographical diversity though--which is one of the reasons I'm really iffy about state schools with like 90% of the students being from one state. Also, I desperately want to study abroad, so I need that opportunity available.

some schools that I found that I think find my needs are:
-Brown (relatively vibrant small city, close enough to NYC to get there for a weekend, LOVE the ability to coregister at RISD)
-Yale (eh for surrounding area, but loved the campus when I visited and still close enough to NYC for a weekend)
-Northwestern (close to Chicago and I like the campus from the pictures I've seen and such haha)
-UPenn (like that its right in the city, yet has a nice campus)

Also considering for reaches: Rice, Columbia, UVA, Bowdoin, Pomona, Georgetown
Possible high matches: UCLA, Johns Hokins (GC said since I am a history major), Cornell (in state), Boston College, NYU
I have some ideas for safties that I'm OK with (UMD, Skidmore, American, SUNY...)

Now I obviously need some MATCH schools.
Any reccomendations, please?

Being in state doesn't matter for Cornell.

from what I have heard it slightly does if you apply to certain colleges within cornell---not for arts an sciences

anyway, anyone have advice?

Wouldn't arts and sciences have the history, art, and writing majors you would be interested in though?

Anyway maybe look at Tufts and BU? Don't really know a ton about either but they might fit your criteria. All the schools that your description of the type of school you wanted made me think of were already listed in your own list.

ok well any help on at least cutting down on this list:
Brown Yale, Northwestern, UPenn, Rice, Columbia, UVA, Bowdoin, Pomona, Georgetown, UCLA, Johns Hopkins , Cornell, Boston College, NYU, Tufts, BU

and I still need some reasonable match schools

bump?
10chars

NORTHEASTERN!!!! Big city Boston! Very artsy town.

i would consider taking out NYU and BU because of their "lack of campus unity" that you want. NYU especially because most kids there (including some of my best friends) say that its more like you live in the city and happen to go to NYU. not much unity, no school spirit. BU is a little more campus-y but the whole college is pretty much a row of buildings down comm ave in boston.

also take out cornell becuase it is not remotely near a city at all.

for a match i might suggest villanova, near a city but removed with a campus. idk how you would like it if you consider yourself artsy though.

thanks, i'm so on the edge about NYU haha, since I reallly love nyc...but I do think I would like a campus so =/ plus the possibility of running into my dad, who works in the city, would not be ideal, lol
I guess theres always summer internships and such

for villanova....my cousin went there and I have heard that its a very expensive school--do you know anything about their generosity or lack of it with merit based aid?

Villanova only has 2 merit scholarships, unless you are a URM, and they are very strict with the requirements. The GPA cut-off is a 3.8, so you may qualify depending on your SAT scores and class rank. They are pretty stingy with financial aid too.

yeah thats prob not a good thing =/

any other ideas for matches?

UVA

It's just a short trip from D.C., is on the high-end of the "medium" size (but does have great guidance and such), 1/3 of students are out of state, and would be a match for you. And campus unity...don't worry about that.

oh god. AH YOU ARE RIDICULOUS. RIDICULOUS I TELL YOU. coldplay, yankees, and UVA. do you even think of anything else? ever!?

um, if anyone else has suggestions that'd be great, thanks

Goucher, George Wash (no campus), College of Charleston, UMiami, Fordham, CMU, Case, Drexel, St Joseph, Uof Denver, College of Santa Fe,

I usually keep it to those 3, I can't really handle more than that.

villanova gave me more aid then BC gave me (thats not saying much though) they actually gave me 5k from them, not the government. but merit money is really hard to get so i wouldnt count on it at all.

Vanderbilt sounds like it's perfect for what your looking for!

I've been hesitant to even look at Vanderbilt since its in....Tennesee...and I feel like it has somewhat of a pretentious reputation? I'll read up on it though
