Johns Hopkins is one of my favorite schools, and I am still ecstatic that I got in (especially because I got in to the BME program). I would love to attend JHU, but the cost is a huge deterrent. I have gotten into some other schools that I don't find as appealing, but that gave me fairly generous merit scholarships. I was hoping to convince Johns Hopkins to match the scholarship that some of my other schools gave me. I was wondering if anyone on CC could give me some tips on how I should go about doing this.

Thanks so much, any advice is appreciated!

Unfortunately, most private schools don’t care about what merit scholarships you have gotten from other typically state schools. That’s due to the fact that they gave financial aid almost exclusively based on need. Most students who attend top privates have qualified for substantial merit scholarships at one school or another, anyways.

That’s due to the fact that they gave financial aid almost exclusively based on need. If you are to compare offers, use a higher financial aid offer based on need from a comparable private school. Also rerun the numbers using Hopkins’ financial aid calculator and see if they missed something.
