Materials required for self studying AP Bio

Hi guys,

I'm going to self study AP Bio this year because our school doesn't offer this class anymore. What are some materials/texts that I need to study for this? I know solely using Barron's for AP Psych is possible to get a 5, but I'm not sure it that will work for AP Bio.

Do I need to buy textbooks, or can I just buy Barron's and some practice tests?

[ul][]Buy the Cliffs reveiw book. much better http://www.amazon.com/CliffsAP-Biology-Phillip-Pack-Ph-D/dp/0470097647/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311977216&sr=8-1</a>
[li]Get the Campbell -Reece textbook. you can rent, buy used, etc. just dont spend like $100 on the textbook. don’t necessarily need the latest edition either. i used the 5th edition. as long as you have cliffs youll be good to go[/li][] make an account on Quizlet (free) and study some vocab cards there. VERY VERY HELPFUL!!
[li] In general just find some sites with fill-in notes, study guides, etc.[/ul][/li]happy to help! :)

Mostly agreeing with risubu, but I’d opt for 6th edition or later, when it comes to Campbell. Biology has changed, considerably, in the last couple decades, so something too early may not work well anymore.

That said: check your local libraries before buying the book - there’s a copy of the 8th at my local public uni’s library, for example, and you can probably find one at a uni library near you.
