Hey, so I am in my first year of ME and was wondering you guys can direct me to some books or websites (summaries and etc.) that deals with material science. I have a test over a couple of days but I really don't like the way my course book explains it. Just anything will help, the course so far has been pretty tedious and I can't wait to get it over with.

The book is Materials: engineering, science, processing and design by Michael Ashby, Hugh Shercliff, David Cebon; 2nd edition.

I’m a fan of the book “Materials Science and Engineering, An Introduction” by William Callister. It’s a pretty well-used book, so check out your school’s library to see if they have a copy of it.

Also, when you say ME, do you mean Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering?

Thanks! I looked it up and they seem to have a couple editions. The 2007 edition is being returned tomorrow, so I hope I can borrow that one.

And, ME as in Mechanical; I’d be crazy to stick around with Materials Eng. had I not like the main subject material science. :P

Haha, alright, guess that makes it fair enough that you don’t like the intro course. :p
