Materials Science PhD Program possible?

<p>Hi everyone,</p>

<p>I'm looking into applying to some top 25 PhD programs for materials science, and I am not sure if I have the qualifications for it or not. Here's my background:</p>

<p>Graduated w/B.S. in Chemistry w/ a 3.62 GPA in May 2011
GRE scores: 157V/165Q/4.0
Working in industry since July 2011
Did research, no publications, in undergrad for a year and a half</p>

<p>I'm worried that the analytical writing score is going to hurt, especially since some of the schools I'm looking at list that they're looking for GRE scores ~153/159/4.5 . Should I retake the GRE to bump up the writing score?</p>

<p>The writing score is not a big deal. I don’t think you should take it again unless you have extra time/money and think that you can improve all areas.</p>
