Materials Science PhD

Got an email from the department saying I was admitted. That was on March 11th (I'm international). Still haven't got the official offer from grad school yet. Anyone got it?

^you should email the department and ask when the acceptance letter will be mailed to you. You will need the printed letter to apply for visa (if your country needs visa to enter the states).

Right…I asked for date right after I got the email from the department. Reply says: “All will be clear when you receive the official letter.” Haha.

I’d give it maybe another week and then try calling again. Our department’s in a bit of a mess right now due to the engineering college deciding to merge the administrative sides of the Materials and Applied Physics departments, so it might just be a little late on it getting out due to that.

I see…giving it another week then calling them is my plan too. Although I must say I think the delay is due to grad school and not the department. The grad school may just have so many recomendations from different departments. But thanks for the advice though. Definitly gonna call them if I don’t get it within a week.

Does the department plan to invite recently admitted students to visit the campus?

They already had their visiting weekend for accepted students. They generally don’t fund trips for internationals to visit, either.
