i think i saw a site (not assist.org) on this board about checking what math from community college transfers to ucsd..if u dont know what im talking about, then nevermind cus i dont remembver if i saw it here or somewhere else.

also..for chem entrance exam..do we need to take that if i took HS chem but not AP..cus i alrady know some chem so i dont need a total intro course. its just that its been 2 yrs..so i might have forgot

Your performance on the placement examination indicates less proficiency than the average among Math 10A students in the following areas: Functions and their Graphs

In addition to any areas listed above, your performance on the placement examination indicates less proficiency than the average among Math 20A students in the following areas:
*Exponents and Radicals
Geometric Applications
Logarithmic and Exponential Functions and their Graphs
Polynomials and Polynomial Functions and their Graphs

What is the difference between Math 20A, 10A, 4C ? Which is more challenging ? Which math is suited for which certain majors? What happens if I take Math 10A? 20A? 4C? **

math 20 is the hardest - it is intended for certain science majors - if you take the 10 series you will not be able to switch your major to those certain science majors without taking math 20 (math all over again) - so math 20 is a safer option but ONLY if you ever plan to swtich your major to one of those certain science majors - if you are like a sociology major or if you're pre-med and need high GPA then math 10 will work out best

with chem placement, call the chemistry department at ucsd and let them help you figure out their courses

My major is Biochem. & cell biology what should I take??
What Math series is good for pre-med
Can any of you tell me the course title for Math 10 series
and Math20 series (like how it will show on your transcript)
ThankS!!!!!!!

I believe it's the 10 series!!!!
because if you're doing Human bio. or biology then you take the 10 series but if you want to enter the physics or chemistry field then you must take the 20 series.
Hope that helps.

great..... i can double major in a humanities course and take biology ! 10 SERIES it is ! ....

if I do take the 20 series, I have to work in the following areas of topics stated below

In addition to any areas listed above, your performance on the placement examination indicates less proficiency than the average among Math 20A students in the following areas: Exponents and Radicals
Geometric Applications
Logarithmic and Exponential Functions and their Graphs
Polynomials and Polynomial Functions and their Graphs

Do you think 20series is a good fit for me? Based on my results, should I take the 10 or 20 series?

10 series. 20 series isn't hard; it just requires that you have a good foundation in math, especially being able to visualize equations graphically.
