Math 10 B Waitlist dilemma

My friend is 4th on the waitlist for a Eggers discussion section (all Eggers + Kimkes sections are waitlist only). Should she stay on or move to an open section for Meesue Yoo?

Anyone with experience with these professors and being the 4th waitlist in a 33 person section discussion, please help.

Thank you.

I would really appreciate help on this too! in the exact same position!!

From what I’ve heard of people that took Eggers before, his waitlist rarely moves.

Obviously I cant tell you guys what it’ll be like this quarter, but supposedly thats what happened in the past

i would suggest not taking meesue yoo and staying as far away from her as possible. i have some friends who had her and they say she is quite possibly the worst math teacher they have ever had.

Are the section limits at 33 hard limits or “soft” limits? In other words if you have 3 waitlisted people in one section are they likely to be allowed to stay or dropped and asked to find another section?

Thanks.

I honestly don’t see why people have these problems…

Not many classes require you to go to a specific lecture/discussion at UCSD. I enrolled in a 9 PM discussion one quarter for Eggers, because it was the only one open, and just went to another discussion (10 AM). I only went to my 9 PM one to pick up my exams. Just because you aren’t enrolled in his lecture/discussion doesn’t mean you can’t go to his instead. Since it’s winter quarter, you’re on track, and thus the exams are departmentally-made, so register for the other professor, and go to his lectures.

And honestly, if you’re 4th, you’ll probably get in at least by the first quiz (Friday of second week). I waitlisted for his class as probably fifth or sixth and got in by Friday.
