Daughter is starting at Wharton in the fall. She took Calculus BC as a Junior and AP Statistics as a Senior in high school. Did well in both classes. As it has been a year since she took Calculus, however, would it be advisable to start out in Math 103, rather than Math 104? Is there any practical downside to starting in Math 103? Any thoughts from Wharton students/alumni would be appreciated.

Math 104! From what I’ve heard, Math 103 is not a good course and is not an easy grade or good “refresher”. Math 104 isn’t easy either, but it’s required so she should get it out of the way quickly. The extra semester is unnecessary - she should be fine in 104.

If she got a 5 on the BC test, she should consider starting out in MATH114 instead of 104… or at least she should take placement test to see where she fits in.
