math 104 before math 110?

would I be ok to take 104 before 110 or would that be foolish? I've heard it both ways.

Thanks!

what other math classes have you taken?

110 is the first upper division class most people take, but you don’t need anything in 110’s material for 104. I’d say it’s doable, though it may be a challenge.

It depends on how used to proofs you are. If not, Math 110 will be a gentler introduction than Math 104. But if you can handle them easily, you can take Math 104 before Math 110.

1a/1b/53/54

I kind of learned some basic proof writing in 54, but that whole issue has me worried. Sounds like 110 first seems more logical. hmm

even without 55 or UD experience I think you can pick up proof-writing within the first month just by being forced to do the hws. so after that it’ll be o.k. maybe faster than a month if you read a lot of proofs, idk.
