Math 10A or 20A?

I suck at math. capital S U C K. but I also would like to go to graduate school. would the college be unimpressed by me choosing the lower level calculus? or should i suck it up and do my best with the 20A?

What did your counselor on the WebReg recommended for you to take? I am in the same dilemma as you are as my counselors recommended 10A but I feel that I should just study like crazy for 20A.

They said that they couldn't place me in any math class yet because there was no test to use to do that, but im sure thats a mistake because i took the SAT II Math and i can take 20A or 10A.

Yea I know what you mean, but Im just worried that i might regret it HUGELY when i get like a c or d or something haha.

I think it depends on what your major recommends. I mean, if you're going for a BS, then maybe the 20 series is the way to go. I could be wrong here, but that's what I understood from the folks I talked to and the research I've done.

It's entirely major-dependent. And "graduate school" is a very loose term -- if you're going for a Physics PhD, vs a British Lit MA ... then their entrance requirements will be a very, very different.

If you know you don't like math and you have the option of taking 10A or 20A, what are you still worried about?

my major is internation studies-economics. what do you guys think?

it doesn't matter what we think, it matters what your major requires -- did you look that up?

i'm in the same situation too. i'm leaning towards a joint econ/math major, which requires math 20a. But i have never taken calculus before (only precalc) so I'm not too sure one which course to take. So I was thinking maybe I should enroll in both classes at first and then drop one after seeing which one matches me better? Idk..

yes i did look it up it said prerequisties math 10A or 20A.

then just take 10A ... what are you worried about?

if need be, you can always transfer to the 20 series later on. they'll just make you repeat the same letter of the last 10-series class you took and give you 2 units instead of 4, but after that everything's peachy.
