To graduate with a degree in Economics you either have to take Math 112 or Math 124. Does UW favor one class over the other one or do they view both classes equally when admitting you into the Department of Economics?

Thanks.

You need to take MATH 124, 125, and 126 if you’re getting the BS, so you might as well just take MATH 124 even if you’re going for the BA so that you have the option of choosing either. Plus, economics without math is a virtually worthless degree.

Math 111-112 combined are significantly easier than any one Math 124-126 course, but in terms of getting accepted into the major I don’t think they give any significant weight to one class over the other. If you take both 112 and 124 I think they recommend that you just use the course with the higher grade in your application.

I agree. In Math 124 you’ll be going against all the Engineering, Computer Science, etc. majors.
