Math 113 or Math 115 (w/ Terrible Prof according to OurUMD/Course Evals). Please Help.

Hey everyone. I'm signed up for Math 115 with Guilick for the upcoming semester. However, I've been looking at the reviews of her students and most of them were negative. The course evaluations show that only 8% get A's, and all of her reviews talked about how she was a horrible professor. After this semester, I'll be taking Math220(Elementary Calc) and I noticed that Math113 will also allow me to take it, so I don't need to take Math115. Math 113 is College Algebra/Trigonometry which seems like an easier class (I've already taken trig in HS), but it does not have a professor yet. Also, Math 113 is less time consuming, because it only meets for 50 minutes 3 days a week, while Math 115 meets for 50 minutes 3 days a week, plus an additional 50 minutes for discussion 3 days a week. I want to know if I should take 113 or 115, and if taking a lower level math class will hurt me when I take Calc. Thanks!

I’m guessing you’re taking it with Frances instead of Denny, when registering at orientation I selected Frances for 140, but one of the student orientation people said do not take her lol, so needless to say I went with another professor. You stated that math 113 is algebra/trig but what is math 115? Elementary calc shouldn’t be too difficult but it wouldn’t hurt to be even more solid with your algebra, and you can be refreshed in trig within a week or so.

115 is Pre-Calculus
