Math 115 or Econ 101?

I am incoming freshman at UMich this fall and was wondering if any of you have input as to which class has an easier curve/is less frustrating to take 1st semester. I don't want to take both classes 1st semester if I can help it. If you guys could help, that would be great. Thanks!

if you are aiming for Ross, check out some of the other threads

I am probably goin to apply to Ross at the end of freshman year, but can’t find any post that indicates which course is easier, since I don’t want to take both during my 1st semester of college.

i hear calc 115 is tough. my b school friend with more A+ credits than A credits got his only grade lower than an A freshman year in calc 115.

as for econ 101, i took it with gerson it was fine. the curve is generous i think 1/5 of students get some form of an A

what Calc 115 is that hard? Does Econ 101 involve any calc or is it just geometry?

i also have a friend who is working towards a math major he gave this example

lots of kids memorize the derivative of ln x = 1/x but they do not know why or how to get to that answer. he says thats what messes people up

I placed out of both classes, but I know for a fact you don’t need Calc for Econ 101. It’s algebra based. I can’t envision either class being that hard. You could definitely take both at the same time.
