is it hard? can anyone give feedback on this class?

I never had to take it, but a lot of my friends in business hated it and said it was a lot harder than it needed to be…good luck!

I thought it was hard. I struggled to get a B and I know several other who worked just as hard for lower grades.
Material wise it isn’t really that bad - just basic mathematical concepts. But the exams are time-consuming and difficult. You will need to do well in the first 2 or so exams because they get progressively more difficult.
The key to the exams is the homework. Make sure you do all the homework assignments seriously, get all the help you can on those and understand where you went wrong once you get them back. Go through or even re-solve them if you can before the exams. Go for all pre-exam and homework tutoring sessions.
Its not impossible to get an A. All you need to do put in the effort in the right places.
(textbook is expensive and useless. I wouldn’t but it if i were you)

Its a joke. Even 415 isn’t that bad.

Im in the Business School, what is the easiest math class I can take?

All the calculus series are quite easy. I’d recommend taking calc 1,2, and 3 (vector calc) for easy grade.

^ I agree. Calculus is a lot more interesting (and maybe even maybe useful) than what they teach in math 125.
Math234: Business Calc is probably one of the easiest classes I’ll ever take.

I am having a problem too. I signed up for Math 234 but it doesn’t fit my schedule very well. I can take 220/221 and end up with a better schedule, but are they harder than 234?

Yes, 220/221 are harder than 234. I know several business majors who took the regular calculus sequence instead of business calc, nearly failed it, went back and took business calc and aced it. That said, that is mainly because MOST business majors are pretty sorely lacking in the math department. If you feel like you are up for taking the regular calculus, I would definitely suggest it, as it is much more comprehensive and useful in the long run, though this advice is coming from an engineer.

Whats the difference between business calc and regular calc?

Well I never actually took business calc, so I don’t know for sure, but I believe business calc just teaches you the basics of calculus as they apply to business principles as opposed to the basics and underlying principles of calculus in general.

Oh my gosh def go for b-calc. It is so easy, esp if you’ve already taken calc in high school…it’s basic, basic stuff. And I’m not even a business major.

So Calc for Business is easier than Linear Algebra?

Linear Algebra is still a 400 level math. Its kind of ridiculous to think difficulty of calculus is comparable to linear algebra. I do agree that it is albeit easier compared to other 400 level CS/Mathematics courses though.

Linear algebra is also taught in 100-level and 200-level formats, sang54. MATH 125 and MATH 225 are both linear algebra. My roommate (a business administration major) had a hard time in MATH 225, but when I looked at his stuff, it looked ridiculously easy.

Heres the situation… I took AP Calculus AB in HS, but I am not very good at math… I have math 125 first semester and I am a bit worried… is math 125 Linear Algebra that bad? Any tips? What should I do so I don’t get screwed my first semester of college?

I’m in the same situation. I got a 4 on my Calc AB test and my counselor recommended me to take Linear Algebra (Math 125) because I told her math was not my forte. I think I had the option of taking 125, 220, or 234. I’m starting to get worried now :X

Bottom line, it is a 100-level math class. If you can do AP calc, you ought to be able to handle ANY 100-level math class the university throws at you. Lighten up, college isn’t that hard as long as you don’t fall behind too much.

Xiadane, are you in business? If you are, you don’t really have a choice since Math 125 is mandatory if you choose to take any of the math sequences.

So math 125 and Calculus for business isnt that bad?
