Math 16A or 1A for pre-med freshmen?

I’m trying to set myself up for integrative bio major/pre-med, and I was wondering which is better?

I’m sure there are pro’s and con’s for both, so it’d be nice if you could list those. Thanks in advance!

mcb (where most premeds are) requires the 1 series

not sure about ib

If I take 16A and B does that mean that I can't take multivariable Calc? It seems like 1B is a prerequisite for mult. variable.

the math department wont force prereqs. you can sign up for it but the math dept believes that 1b wont teach you enough for 53

premeds dont have to take 53

if you want to take it, i dont think that youll be at a significant diadvantage; the only part where 1b/16b material will help is when you relearn parameterization

Which series us supposed to be harder, 1A and B or 16A and B?

1 series is definitely much harder

all scientists and engineers have to take it (unless you pass out)

while 16 is more for social science majors

do we have to take a math if we have already satisfied the quantitative reasoning requirement?

depends on your major

babilu: if your major doesn't require it, then you will never have to take a math class again in college.
