I am entering UCSC as a frosh this fall as a Astrophysics major (I might end up changing though), and I got a 3 on my AP Calc BC exam which makes me qualified to enroll in Math 19B. I'm a bit worried though since idk how different College Calc is versus High School Calc is and I know that Physics is a very intense major. Should I start from Math 19A or should i just skip to Math 19B? I did pretty well in both my AB +BC classes in HS.

I would definitely, definitely recommend doing 19A. I went to orientation yday and the guy for the Physics advising told us that taking 19B instead of 19A won’t necessarily put you ahead. And college calc is a LOT more rigorous than high school calc. Take 19A… it’ll help you transition into college math better. Why? Because you already know the material (at least a little bit), and at the same time, you’ll get a feel for college math. That way, you can “test yourself out” in 19A for college math courses without any risks because you’ll already know the material. Bottom line: go for 19A.

okay thx I’ll be taking 19A in the fall!
