<p>If you take 1a, you will likely be taking 1b eventually. Math 1B is considered by many to be a notorious weeder course.</p>
<p>The 16 series is known to be easier than the 1 series.</p>

<p>At the pre-med session during welcome week, the speaker said that if you are a pre-med, and are not in MCB, that you should take the 16 series. Someone next to me told me though, that she knew a person who had just gone through the med school application process and that some schools (not all, just some) won't accept the 16 series over the 1 series. So just a headup.</p>
<p>16 series is good for padding the GPA.</p>
<p>Both are pretty easy.</p>
<p>I suggest taking 1 A and then either 1b or 16 b.</p>
