For those of you who are going to take Math 1B,
are you choosing Simic or Aganagic?

I have Simic for 1A this semester and he's okay-not bad.
Who are you selecting and why?

I went with Aganagic.
I chose my current 1A prof because I heard he was better or just as good as Simic. Either those people were wrong, or both Simic and my current professor suck (and I know he does). So I went with her. Plus maybe it’s because I’m also female but I feel more comfortable asking female teachers questions and feel they might be better at lecturing…lol

PS: I’m aware that none of these are very solid reasons xD Sorry

dunno about simic. i took aganagic. first midterm was super easy, got a 50/50 on it. but 2nd midterm was tough…since it dealt with taylor series (which i hate…lol.). i messed up on that one. i got an 80 on the final (it was okay, the taylor series question on that was not)…

aganagic is nice, she knows her stuff. but lecture, she pretty much uses the same examples from the book…so it isn’t really worth it to go. you might as well stay home and practice problems.

@insertname : Is she approachable and, even though she uses the same textbook problems, does she explain them well?
I also know there are probably a lot of GSIs for the course, but what was your GSI like? :)

i suppose so haha. i never went to OH, lol. and i suppose she does explain them. most of the concepts are pretty easy…but i felt that for taylor series, she didn’t really explain that well.

my gsi was a bit bad. he didn’t really know what he was doing…and constantly made mistakes during section.
