hey guys, im confused as a u know what.

i first had a few questions on the calculator
can u put i on it? the imaginative number?

also can i graph two functions at the same time? i have the TI-84.

how can i graph ellipses, hyperbolas and stuff, cause they aren't the traidtional

y= x equation

also

x2+y2-10y-36=0
how do i find the circumference?? thanks

Complete the square
x^2+y^2-10y+25=36 + 25
(x^2) + (y+5)^2 = 61
Circumference for an ellipse=? o.o

Incase you made a typo and meant x2+y2-10y-36x=0, I got no clue.

Yes, there is an ‘i’ key, you have to click 2nd, then the period. You cannot graph with ‘i’, but if you go into the complex mode (under the mode menu), you can perform calculations using ‘i’.

To graph 2 functions at the same time, enter the first under the Y1=, and the second under the y2=.

To graph circles, ellipses, etc., you must solve for y.
Example:

x^2+y^2-10y+25=36 + 25
(x^2) + (y+5)^2 = 61
(y+5)^2=61-(x^2)
y+5=+sqrt[61-(x^2)]
or
y+5=-sqrt[61-(x^2)]

y=+sqrt[61-(x^2)]-5
or
y=-sqrt[61-(x^2)]-5

Graph the first under y1, and the second under y2, and the two pieces will form the desired graph.

I do not think you will ever be asked for the circumference of an ellipse. If you will be asked, it should be provided or be possible to find it by using other information given.
