Math 2 Help!

So I'm take the Math 2 subject test in June, and I just started studying so...

Anyways, I had a question on factorials, nPr, and nCr. How do you know when to use each one? Also besides determinants and multiplication, what do you need to know about matrices. Oh and if I got a 730 on the diagnostic test for Barron's, where does that put me for the real thing?

on the same boat as you, beginning my prep for the math ii test next week.

nPr are for permuations and nCr are for combinations (i think). forget when and where to use each of them though :</p>

i dont think they test too much on matrices, as it’s one of the harder types of problems. the barron’s book is quite hard, and the general consensus on these forums is that your score on the real exam will likely be higher (100 points+) on the real test.

You use permutations when you need to ORDER things, combinactions when you need to CHOOSE things.

Permutations is when order matters, combinations when order doesn’t matter. You should be able to find some basic examples of each. Does the Barron’s book not cover this topic? (I don’t have it, so I’m curious)

Ok, so I spent the last week prepping with Barron’s and… Today, I just randomly picked a practice test from Peterson’s and was like WHAT THE…? I guess the real thing is going to be a bummer. Anyways, Barron’s does cover permutations and combinations - just browse the chapter on counting. ;)

Barrons should get you better prepared. Then do the test on CB to check your score.

@mrcrazyOG What do you mean by ‘a bummer?’ Is the real thing going to be easy, or…?

Relax a 730 on Barrons means you have a chance at an 800. I got 780-790s on my Barrons tests and easily got an 800 on the May test.

@thelemonisinplay: nope, the opposite really. Or that’s my feeling after looking at the Peterson’s test. However, I’m no math genius AND I’m really tired today, so I doesn’t mean the test would be hard for you… It’s just me. And looking at the practice test made me feel nervous to say the very least. It feels like a week full of practicing wasted. :D

So the Peterson’s test was easy or hard? I haven’t practiced Peterson’s yet, I’ve been doing Dr. Chung’s tests up till now…

Hard I’d say. But I dunno. I’ll give Barron’s a try and see - either I go totally mad and screw up on Saturday or I find they are actually quite easy compared to Peterson’s (which I don’t expect)

PR is about the normal level. Kaplan is easy and Barron is hard.

@billcsho wait is PR short for petersons?
