From what I have read from several forums, the most optimal time period to take the Math 2 subject test is immediately after taking pre-calc. Unfortunately, I did not meet the deadline to register. Next year I will be taking Calc A/b. What and how much would I have to review if I were to take the subject test after completing this calc ab?
I’m kinda in the same boat as you. I took precal in 9th grade and didn’t know about the subject test 'till now, as a junior. So I’m taking it today lol. Here’s what I would review:
TRIG IDENTITIES - AP Calc doesn’t require you to memorize these, but the subject test does. This also includes law of sines and law of cosines.
Recursively defined series - only because you don’t learn them in calc AB
Review any and all coordinate-plane geometry concepts because these are the kinds of questions that are the trickiest imo.
Asymptote rules
More trig identities
Inverse functions
How to use your calculator - make sure you know how to graphically find intersections, zeroes, etc.
What you’ll learn in AP Calc AB should cover the rest, I believe. Unless someone wants to jump in and add anything.
