how is number 2 worked out. I keep playing with is and I can't see why it's x + z? thanx

call the intersection in the center O. angle CDO is y. this makes COD 180-y-z. COD and x are supplementary,
COD + x = 180
180-y-z+x = 180
x = y+z

I appreciate it !
