is math 20a really that hard? the MPE administrator said it is really hard.

i got my results and they say that I should take Math4c in order to review, but it also says I can take Math20a but i should review throughly... but im thinking of just taking 2oa unless it is ultra hard

man..I have to take mine when I get there, after orientation.

And as for your question, are you taking a math/science/engineering major? I'm pretty sure that they all require the 20 series instead of the 10.

yea my major is engineering (after looking at the MAE2 website im seriously reconsidering this lol) and it says you can take Math4c as a precalculus class then go to math20a

wandering_M the MPE isnt that bad. I was really sick and could barely concentrate and i still qualified for 20A

20A is not really that hard, from what I hear. I'm surprised the MPE administrator said that. You could always try 20A, and if it's too hard, then switch to 4C.

I'm bringing up this thread again because I just took the online calc readiness test, and I bombed it, I forgot so much over the summer. It says that you can't take the test if you get under 30 (out of 40), and I got 17. I took regular calc and got an A both semesters (wishing I took ap...), but if I get the same score when I take the MPE next week, will I be restricted from taking the exam, or will they just strongly recommend that I take another course?

You'll be restricted from taking the course. I know the Math Department is very strict in their pre-requisites.

I did better much better in Math 20B than 20A (haha a C in 20A and an A in 20B). It might have been my difficulty to adjust my first ever quarter. But really, if you do your homework, go to lecture/discussion, and study before tests, you really should be fine.
haha HOWEVER, the 20 series did make me realize how much I hate math, which helped me change my major from engineering to science. :)
