Math 20B or 20C?

Hi guys, I was wondering whether or not I should take Math 20C in the fall. I took AP Calculus BC my junior year, got As in the class and a 5 on the test, exempting me from math 20A and B. But the thing is...I kinda forgot my calc since its been a year since Ive touched a math book. Should I just go right into Math 20C or retake Math 20B? I think retaking it would be a GPA booster, imo. Wanna hear urs. Thanks.

Lol, same considerations for me. I figure I can accelerate through my math courses (math major >.>), or take lower level math and have an easy first year. I’m sure the beginning of 20C would review concepts though, so forgetting over summer shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

If you retake it, you won’t get any credit for it so it won’t count towards your GPA. I think you’ll be fine with 20c. You don’t forget that much after a year really.

eff…questions then:

Is there a way for me to take classes for no credit, but still have them count in my GPA?

Is there a way to net get credit for that 5 in AP Calc BC at all?

If I do have to take Math 20C if I want a class for credit, then how hard is it compared to 20B? How much are those two related?

Thanks!

uh … no. you’re aware that the GPA is also based on how many credits a class is worth, right? (so a 6-unit class has more of an impact on your overall GPA than a 4-unit class)

don’t submit the score.

20C isn’t necessarily harder, it’s the next one in the sequence. it’s like saying multiplication is after subtraction, how much harder is it? 20C is basically taking everything in 20B and throwing a few more integrals in front of everything. no biggie.

yeah I do…

kinda late for that…bubbled in my stuff on my scantron :/

really? idk Im gettin mixed answers. some say a lot, some say hardly any.

thanks!

I would just take Math20C, it is basically like vector addition and multiplication, calculus should come back to you like nothing. And it is a lot easier than Math 20A/B.

:)

just take 20c! its way easier than 20B!!! i came in with AB credit and took 20B, then 20C. and…B was way harder than C.

Is there a general consensus that 20C is easier than 20B? That just doesn’t make sense considering C should be more advanced… Is there any reason 20B is so much harder?

I took AB this year and had planned on taking 20B this fall. It sounds like that might be a bad idea… I’m not horrible with calc but I would rather not struggle with it.

xlemonpie, Do you think I’ll do well in 20C? I expect an A/A+ grade in the class. I did well in AB and I’m willing to study fairly hard.

Thanks!

take 20c. i was in the same position as you a year ago. i took 20c and it was actually pretty easy.

thank you all for your input!
do u think its still okay, with respect to the fact that I havent had a math class in forever?
I really gotta brush up on some calc.

I heard C is easier too.

There isn’t enough carryover material from B that is necessary in C for it to really matter.
