So I'm number 5 on the waitlist for Andre Minor, and the class size is 36. His class has the most convenient time for my schedule, but from what I have heard that usually only 10% drop classes. I heard you could also crash the class when school started and some teachers would let you in. Is Minor usually generous with this?

you probably got an email saying they opened new sections, but for briggs only. The email also said that if you’re 1 or 2, you’ll get off the waitlist, but 3 or higher, it’s less likely. the email additionally said that they’re not going to do anything else about that waitlist and that you’re taking the risk if you go on the waitlist. Briggs is a new professor so you don’t know if he’ll be hard, fair, or easy. My advice is get off the waitlist because you’re taking risk. math 20c is being taken by students who need them for ge and andre is a popular teacher for that subject. i doubt people will drop that class.

Ledden hall is at capacity so no, they will not increase the class size. You would have to solely rely on people dropping from the waitlist, which looks unlikely to reach #5. I would recommend signing up for the open section(s) or waitlisting for a section where you’re at #1 or #2
