i got a 760 in math 2c. Is taht good enough for Harvard EA? I have an 800 in Writing and an 8oo in Physics.

I'd say that you stand no chance in the EA pool with a score like that. Retake, without question.

i cant retake them! november was the last date!

raven...are you joking?...(sorry can't tell!)...i got a 750...but i didn't study at all and my percentile's probably awful...i can't retake for harvard but do you think i should for other school...i have a 780 writing...740 lit...(really mad about that one!)...720 u.s..blah..!!!

i know PRECISELY how u feel shjanama!

sucharita...i'm in the same boat
800writing, 760 maths 1 c , 740 maths 2c
I think that i'm going to retake 2c

so where do we go from here?

Well I suppose a 750 is fine if you intend to be a failure at life -- I'm sure you'll be cursing that number later in your career as you're stuck laboring away picking corn under the hot sun every day... all because you couldn't make the grade. It's alright though, being a corn-picker is a perfectly respectable career, well, someone's got to do it I guess!

well, I don't think you need to kill yourself b/c of a SAT II score like that. I'm sure not all ED acceptees have perfect scores. Relax.

are you kidding? 760 is probably a 50 percentile or something!!!

what do you mean? I think it is said again and again score is not everything.

No, that's only what they say to kids with low scores. They want as many people to apply as possible, so that their acceptance rate will be nice and low. Scores truly are everything, and don't believe anyone who says that they're not.

thanks for that assessment raven!!!...haha...anyone have "better" advice?

probably not. thanks raven, i'm resigned to leading the life of a cornpicker.

oh btw, are you SURE im qualified to be a cornpicker?

Hey, I'm just tellin' it like it is. Now I bet a bunch of people are gonna fill this thread with posts about how "a 760 is actually a great score!" and other such crud. At least I give it to ya straight-up! :D

PS - Not to fear, corn pickers get great benefits!

oh, you really think so raven001? A guy doing intern at the admission office at Stanford (I know it's not Harvard, but well, it's Stanford) told me that academic achievements, which include test scores, count for about 40%. So you can't say SAT score will have a 99% at Harvard. And you will definitely have to consider the applicant's background.

Yeah, I'd say a 760 puts you in the running to be a decent corn picker, but just barely. I might consider retaking it if you're looking to get one of the much-coveted "cream of the crop" jobs - so to speak. Let us know which field you end up working in - maybe we can schedule a CC fieldtrip to visit you one day!

oh oh raven, it's an oh oh

thanks raven, i'm definitely retaking it in january. I want a cream of the crop job!
