lol this is really funny

hey do i stand a chance with 1510 Sat 1 and 800 M2c 800 W 780 Chem?
Should i retake chem?
I ve only got 95 th percentile there

Nope, I'm afraid it's off to the corn fields for you too...
800/800/780... sheesh - I can't believe you even show your face on these forums!

and raven001 u know whats the best part about these guys - they are serious (nope they are not joking)

well can u not be serious when you personally know about 25 kids with a perfect 4000 excellent essays ecs recomendations gps get rejected?

Honestly, anything in the mid to high 700's is perfectly good for any school. There is absolutely no need to retake 2c with a 760 or chem with a 780. It makes you look really obsessive if you retake the test after doing so well and being obsessive is not what colleges want at all. Its not about being perfect in everything. You did fine and just take your score. You guys are worrying way too much, just chill out, theres more to life than scores and colleges. It doesnt even matter where you go to school, if your bound to do well in life, you'll do well wherever you go. Just chiil out and you'll be fine.

good words. now listen (especially you Nani! :) )

I like IndianDude. Finally someone with sense

lol you guys are pathetic.
obviously raven001 was just being sarcastic... with 760 800 800 you would be in the top quartile for avg top sat 2 scores even at harvard.. so suck it up and stop embarassing yourself...

Heh, well said Princetonwannabe :)

Hahaha. Love that last subtle jab, Raven.

....

wtf

Harvard doesn't care about your SAT scores as long as they are within a certain range...

SAT2s: you take 3 of them. i'd say if you were to get 700+ on 2 of them and maybe like 650+ on one, then you're good.

SAT I: if you score somewhere near a 1500, give or take 30 points, you're good to go.

SAT scores aren't a distinguishing factor for Harvard applicants...everyone has scores in the range that I mentioned...as long as your scores are in that range, they are competitive.

Harvard is all about hooks: either one major hook or doing a multitude of activities (and being involved in them more than just being "superficially involved")

=========================================================

Harvard does not want the following student: a 1600 SAT, 800 Math II C, 800 Chemistry II C, 800 Writing, 5s on all AP tests, valedictorian of his/her school. Maybe a participant of a few small clubs in his/her high school (but no leadership positions). perhaps this student has done probably 10 hours of community service in his/her entire high school career. This person has excellent essays and ECs

=========================================================

Harvard wants this type of student: 1500 SAT, 750 Math II C, 760 Chemistry, 700 Writing. 5, 5, 5, 4 = scores on AP tests, top 2% of high school class (a competitive high school), not only a participant of various clubs, but also holds some leadership positions as well. has done 100 horus of community service in his/her high school career. This person has excellent essays and ECs.

and, then the major thing, this person has a hook: ranked 5th in the nation in debate; went to some major piano competition to play for an audience; placed well in the USAMO/national chemistry olympiad/USAPO (physics)/etc.;semifinalist/finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search competition; etc.

Harvard would kill to have the following student:a 1600 SAT, 800 Math II C, 800 Chemistry II C, 800 Writing, 5s on all AP tests, valedictorian of his/her school. not only a participant of various clubs, but also holds some leadership positions as well. has done 100 horus of community service in his/her high school career.
hmm...how bout minus the national piano competition, minus the 5th in debate, minus intel, and instead 300 hours of comm service? is that still cool :-D?

LOL BUBCHUB!!

I consider you as one of the "Harvard would kill to have this person" applicants :)

You've not only got that, but research work, dragon-something <_< (in any case, it seemed as though you put a lot of effort into this activity). in all honesty, you're set to go man.

Oh yeah, and having a bunch of fairly large awards also constitutes as a "hook," and you, bubchub, definitely fall into that category as well. AMC Winner at your school, National merit, AP scholar, much more 0_0

you've got multiple hooks lol

How about 1520 SAT, 800 math IIC, 800 italian 750 writing, 740 chem, top 1% of competitive school and INTEL. Been in the States for 2 years, knowing VERY little english, so I am especially proud of my english scores...where do i stand on your groups, dmVP29?
(Btw I think you are the one that makes the most sense here...)

haha i wouldnt mention the nat merit or ap schoolar thing...probaby like 95% of those apply have that

raven i think u realized i'm not serious anyway...

why must everyone be so pessimistic? its really not crap that a 760 is a good score...do you actually think that most of harvard's students have 1600 and 800sat2's? and raven, are you a student at harvard or something, or are you just another applicant who doenst really know what his chances are either, and is just assuming that you need perfect scores to get in...cuz if you are at harvard right now, then ill shut up and believe you...otherwise, stop making ppl think theyre stupid for gettin a 760

I think it's fairly obvious that raven is being sarcastic to show people how silly they're being for obsessing over near-perfect scores. There's really no need to jump all over her - especially since she's trying, through humor, to relieve some of the tension that obviously exists in so many of you ...
