What textbook is used for Math 310 Mathematical Modeling? The USAFA Catalog
i got at the visistor’s center says that the course is an introductory course and students model various aspects of real-world situations chosen from Air Force applications and from across acedemic disciplines, including military sciences, operations research, economics, management, and life sciences. Thanx.

The most recent textbook list doesn’t have Math 310 listed. The curriculum handbook still lists it though, which means the course still exists. The book, then, would be chosen by the professor or course director at the beginning of the semester.

Math 310. Mathematical Modeling. 3(1). An introductory course in mathematical modeling.
Students model various aspects of real-world situations chosen from Air Force applications and from across academic disciplines, including military sciences, operations research, economics, management, and life sciences. Topics include: the modeling process, graphical models, proportionality, model fitting, optimization, and dynamical systems. Several class periods are devoted to in-class work on small projects. Math 310 is not appropriate for Math or Ops Rsch majors. Final exam. Prereq: Completion of core math. Sem hrs: 3 spring of odd-numbered years.

Thanx for the response. I’ve E-mailed the professors at AFA and they can’t seem to remember who taught it last or what book they used, so that was a dead end. Hoping that a former student can remember what book was used, when they took the class.

Sliperydude

Good luck. Since it’s an elective math class that can’t be taken by math or OR majors, I bet I can count the number of cadets that have taken it on one hand.

P.S. I’d bet this month’s paycheck that if you do come here, you won’t take it either.
