Math 31L or 32L?

I just found out that I got a 5 on my AB exam, so I could get credit for Math 31. Should I use it? Btw, as of now, I'm a pre-med student.

From what I hear.. you should probably go on to Math 32.. especially since you took it this year.
If you really want some review.. I would recommend Math 41.. they go over AB stuff in the first week or two and then go on to BC stuff.

Is complete mastery of 31L critical to success in 32? I have 31 credit, but I'm not familiar with some of the topics that 31 is said to cover.

^yeah, same question, kind of...the AP score would give me credit for 31 but I'm not really sure how I got a 5. I was expecting a solid/high 4, but not a 5. I don't know if I should take the credit or not...agh

CoolaTroopa, what have you heard that makes you say that?

Math 31 is recommended for those with no previous calc experience..

Math 41 is recommended for those with one year of high school calculus..this class does review Math 31 but you also spend time in Math 32 and can take Math 103 afterwards.. taking Math 31 only lets you take Math 32. This is the class that most people who didn't get 5's on AB take but took the class take..

Finally Math 32 is recommended for those who have AB credit and feel fully comfortable with the material.

I would say that it would be better to get calculus over with so you can either take Math 103 or a stats/computer science class for your final math credit.

I would say that the decision should be Math 41 or Math 32L instead.. if you got a 5 on Calc AB.. you definitely understand enough to move on.. but, of course, do what you think is best.

thanks for the info :)
i'm just wondering whether it's easier to get good grades in a 31L/32L combo or a 32L/Stats combo. does anybody know anything about the curves for these 3 classes?

In other words, is 31L easier or STA10? I feel like this is a stupid question, so please humor me. I'm just not sure if I want to take a class like 32L first semester, when I'm still adjusting to college life and whatnot.

32L is supposedly the most failed course at Duke. I stress supposedly.

31L is not that bad. If you take it, go with Blake.
