<p>I got placed into math 5 (precalc).. however, a friend recommended that I take math 4 instead as it is easier and will eventually lead me into the same direction anyway.</p>

<p>It depends on your major.</p>
<p>Math 4 is for Pre-Business majors, which leads into Math 22 ( Calculus for Business)
Math 5 is for other majors, which leads to Math 9A(Single variable Calculus)</p>
<p>Math 4 is College Mathematics for Business and the Social Sciences ( Algebra2 i think?).
Math 5 is Pre-Calculus. Its basically Math 4 + Trig.</p>
