So...my schedule for next semester will be UGBA 10, Econ 1, Pub Pol c103 (hopefully), and Math 53 or H53. I'm trying to double major in applied math/biz.

I was leaning towards 53 (just because it would be an easier load so I can keep my GPA up for Haas), but the ratings for Neu alternate between the two extremes - he seems extremely entertaining though, and his grade distn is quite nice (36% As), but I do want to learn something. The H54 professor is new (D. Sean Fitzpatrick), so I can't find anything about him except for what he has on his page (seems pretty good, but idk)

Any advice?

Question is, how much do you like math? Especially proofs and theory (the presumed emphasis of the honors courses).

Well, I want to say I really like math (it has been my favorite subject so far), but then again, I have yet to be exposed to any particularly “hard” or conceptual math. I do think it’s pretty cool to see how proofs work (haha it’s weird admitting that), but as I said, I have only seen - and completely understood - basic proofs and such. I guess another one of my concerns would be getting too caught up in it if 53 material really is as interesting as people are saying?

Why not just go for it, then? Plus, you’ll get a 30 student class with two instructors (one faculty, one GSI).

True, true…a class that small does sound nice :)

Thanks!
