I've just had Phase II, and waitlisted CS 61A (position 1 in discussion). For Math 53, I need to wait until the adjustment period to sign up (9 seats left in discussion). Most likely, both of these classes will be filled by the adjustment period, but should I switch to Math 53 instead? Does one of these classes have a significantly higher drop rate than the other?

I don’t understand why you can’t add Math 53, are you trying to take 20 units?

Anyways, I think you should stay with the CS waitlist. Spot one will definitely get in. People will drop someways into the semester. But I think it’s a little harder to get into 61a than 53; 53 you should be able to get in though you will have to waitlist for awhile. just try not to worry about it.

CS and Math classes generally let everyone in, I wouldn’t worry about it. You will most definitely get into CS right now, tons of people drop, and they know its an important class for majors and will let you in. Math will also have tons of people drop, and if it fills up too much between now and the end of Phase II they’ll add an extra section or two.

Okay, I guess I’ll stay in CS, and hope for the best. In the worst case, math’ll have to wait for next semester, where there is H53 available.

Yes, 20 units.

Why are you taking 20 units?
