Does this equal death, or is it manageable?

It’ll be a lot of work. Not death if you have a good reason to do it, but else you’ll probably curse yourself for signing up for it and enter the semester burnt out.

It’s quite doable if you’re good at math. I don’t think two math classes in summer is as bad as two EECS classes in summer, because math classes don’t have labs/projects.

Hmm, I guess I should consider both sides. I want to take 54 in order to take 110 in the fall, and possibly 113 and/or 115 in the spring, so I can enter the summer of 2010 with 2-3 upper divs under my belt instead of just 1.

And Orochi, have you taken two EECS classes over the summer before? I have a friend who took one CS class over the summer and he said he begged for death before the end.

I recently talked to my former math GSI who is currently a GSI for 54 and he advised me against taking 54 during the summer because the 54 curriculum is apparently the combination of two coureses in one and it is already overloaded during the normal school year nevertheless during the summer.

^^ I see what he means, though I think it should be OK because this student is planning to take 110 over the school year, meaning his/her linear algebra isn’t going to be terribly weak or anything.

My suggestion to the OP is to do 54, spend lots of time on it (since the linear algebra is crucial math major material), and not worry so much about 55 yet. You can handle 54 and 55 if you are motivated, but will probably do a worse job learning 54. I don’t really care about 55, because I managed to escape having to take it altogether.

I was thinking of 54 over the summer as well, but maybe I should rethink this, per dill_scout’s reply. How about 53 over the summer? Is this do-able? I am a 2009 Freshman and I want to take just one class (or add an AC for P/NP after 2 weeks for D session).
